The #1 hidden reason women fail at business and what you can do about it.

The primary hidden reason women fail at business is because they place the least importance on the most important thing.

Their health! Without health there is no wealth!

Ok, I know you can say you’ve heard it all before and that there’s just not enough time in the day to worry about it, but ultimately your health will be the deciding factor to your ultimate success and what state you will be in to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Think about it, when you start out in business, there is so much planning that goes into it. Some of the activities include preparing a business plan, setting goals, creating a timeline for results, budgets, purchase of equipment, strategising, networking, advertising not to mention the set up of websites and the list goes on and on.

Are you exhausted yet? That brings me to what it is that you can do to avoid self-sabotaging your health and ultimately face the possibility of quitting and losing everything that you’ve worked so hard for.

Your primary focus to avoid the risk of health problems is to maintain optimum circulation. So let’s look at the simple things you CAN do to keep you refreshed and sharp throughout the day.

For you to feel well, you need a body free of inflammation and blockages. This means that your blood flows freely through your veins, carrying nutrition and oxygen easily where it needs to go.

Inflammation and Blockages are caused by lack of circulation, causing minor problems and in many cases can lead to very serious conditions like cancer, heart disease and stroke.

So enough about the doom and gloom, the good news is that if you take a few simple steps everyday, you will be able to avoid many serious health conditions later on.

So are you ready to learn more?  Let’s go!

Seems simple enough … but how many of you are getting enough quality sleep? I mean quality sleep, because if you’re lying there wide awake, that is not deep sleep which is required to regenerate your cells and charge your batteries.

Think about the times you’ve made poor decisions, you were either tired and had a lapse of judgment or maybe too much alcohol.

Either way, to be successful you need to have a sharp mind, because there are going to be times where critical thinking and decision making is required and this will not be effective if you are tired.

In business it’s quite acceptable to go out for drinks, perhaps entertaining clients or winding down at the end of the day. Remember that alcohol is a depressant and will slow your thought processes down. I don’t need to go into how many mistakes have been made due to alcohol. Also adds lots of unnecessary calories.

I once spoke with a client who was trying to lose weight and she asked how much of a contributing factor alcohol was to losing weight. She went on to say that in her male oriented industry, it was “expected” to participate in excessive drinking on a weekly basis. She said that you would not be trusted unless you did so.

My initial reaction was, “how sad”. Regardless, excessive alcohol will not make you successful for the right reasons.

Practice taking deep breaths as often as you can throughout the day. Particularly after sitting for long periods of time and when feeling stressed. This opens up the airways and increases oxygen flow which in turn increases cognitive ability. Ever heard the term “take a deep breath”? There’s a reason for it. You will instantly calm down and think more clearly.

Our bodies contain 60% water. It is a must to replenish our water supply regularly throughout the day. Coffee, tea and alcohol are not water.  Our most vital organs are the brain, heart ,kidneys and lungs, which are all comprised of over 70% water.

So it makes a whole lot of sense to keep flushing your system with fresh water all day. Keep it near where you are most often, e.g, desk, car and bedside table. You will find yourself drinking more without even thinking about it.

Don’t do it. Not much else needs to be said about it. If you have time to go out for a smoke, you have time for something else more useful, like a quick walk. Seek help from professionals or Quitline to help kick the habit.

Like it or loathe it, our bodies are designed to move. Every hour, on the hour get up and at least have a good stretch and a 2-3 minute walk. It’s enough to get the heart rate up, increase oxygen absorption and clear your head.

Time out

This is a must, “all work and no play…” You will burn out if you don’t have some “me” time. It’s difficult, I know, with family, work and in many cases caring for elderly parents as well but without you, they’ll suffer. Personally, I go dancing. I have fun and forget everything while I’m there. Find something that makes you switch off.

I could go on an elaborate but you get the picture right? These simple daily habits will keep you on the pathway to good health so that you can power up the ladder of success and achieve all your goals feeling great all the way.
