7 steps to turn your business dreams into a reality


A lot of people dream of success, being a business owner, or holding a high-ranking position in a well-known company — but never quite manage turn those dreams into a reality.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be one of those people. A few simple strategies can set you firmly on the road to the success you’re looking for.

Know exactly what business you’re in

Knowing the business you’re in will give you a sense of the industry you’re entering and how you can fill the market with what you’re offering.

To do this, you should do your research, talk to people in the industry, and ask people what they want from that industry — and what it can do better.

Do your homework

Do a keyword search online or drive around planned business district to find similar businesses to yours. This will help you prepare your best plan of action when offering a service or product to your target customer/client base, no matter where you are.

Have a clear and concise vision

You need to go forward with a clear mind, confidence, and believing you will succeed. To develop this, write down your goals and visionin a few sentences or in dot points. That way, they will become very clear and you are better able to identify them.

Write your plan

Having a plan is one of the most important things you can do when turning your business dreams into a reality.

Doing this will help you keep a schedule for what you want to achieve and in the time frame you want. Include your goals, when you need to have things done and how you will get to your end result.

SWOT: Identify your company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats

Knowing your SWOT will allow you to address hurdles and make the most of strengths and opportunities. Be frank and honest with yourself about each of the SWOT categories. Map them out and seek second opinions from colleagues and industry experts if possible.

Identifying your customer base

You need to know who your customers are, what they want, and how you can offer it to them.

Do some market research (you could start with reading customer comments on your competitions’ social media pages) and see what your indented customer base is interested and what they want. Aim to deliver that to them, while also maintaining your own uniqueness in the market.

Stay determined

Staying determined … you know what you want, how much you want it, and what you’re willing to do in order to achieve it.

Develop a thick skin for when times get tough and you feel like you should give up. This will also show others—especially the competition—that you won’t give up on your dreams and that your determination to succeed is stronger than any hurdles that can come your way.
