Why charity is great for your business

If you are a new business, or even simply looking for ways to grow and expand this year, there are many different avenues you can take to build your reputation and bring people into your brand. One of the ways you may not have thought about already is completing some charity work.

Charity is any company which runs to earn money for a good cause, it can involve creating products to sell to raise funds, hosting a Charity Drive or fundraiser in the local area and much more. Charity is a selfless thing, and it is always popular with people because it shows that you care.

For a company, it can be very beneficial to team up with a charity or perform work for a charity project. Here’s why you should think about working with the charity this year…

Show your true colors

Every business should have a voice, and as you build your brand you will want to make sure that you show your audience who you are and what you stand for. Many companies will have a code of ethics which they follow, and they will share this with their audience to gain favor. For example, if you are against animal testing being used for your products, use this to sell your brand. You can then go one step further and work with animal charities to stop cruelty and make sure that animals are safe. This ties in with your brand and is something you genuinely care about and will be something your audience is willing to support as well.

PR benefits

If you do decide to work with charities and regularly help them to raise money for their cause, you can share your stories and experiences with your employees and the public. This will immediately give the media and public something to be proud of you for, and you will likely gain more people for it. It can even make your employees proud to be a part of your team and stop them from thinking of leaving you. Make sure you share your efforts on every channel you can to spread the word and show that companies can do some good in the world.

Employee opportunities

Most of us will want to work with a charity at some point in our life, and many of us will even want to travel across the world to help a charity and make a difference in the world. The difficulty comes with not having the time to do it in our busy schedules, and we are often too scared to go alone. As a company, you can offer an opportunity nice or twice a year for your employees to travel to a chosen location in the world and volunteer for the charity for a week. This will not only give your employees the chance to help people or animals in need, but it will make for amazing stories that you can share across your blog and memories you can hold on to throughout your career.

Team building

If you have a large company which has many different departments and different offices across the country, you will likely not know everyone who works for you. A great way to bring your whole team together for a few days is to go away for a couple of days and perform some charity work, or hold a fundraiser for a local charity and invite the public to come along. It will not only give you the chance to show how much your company cares about the greater good, but it will give your employees the chance to work together and get to know each other face to face. This can improve employee relations and make it much easier for everyone to get along when you get back to normal working days.

Keeping your employees

Everyone wants to feel as if they are part of something which makes a difference, and it applies to every aspect of our lives. When an employee joins a company they will hope that the company is trustworthy, morally good and credible to the outside world. If you can prove to your employees that you are a company who helps the local community and works for many different causes, they will feel proud to be in the team and are much less likely to leave you. You will manage to build a loyal, dedicated team to care about your company and will do anything to keep your running.

The beauty of working for charity and attending different events is that you are able to meet other business owners who work in the same way as you and who care about the same things as you do. In the long term, you could collaborate its these companies for a charity and make something really amazing. Great minds think alike and you can do so much more if you have double the team to raise money for your chosen charity.

Help others

The most obvious benefit of working with a charity and raising money for a good cause is just that: you are raising money for a good cause! The whole idea of helping another human being or animal can be amazing for the soul and is a surefire way to make you feel like a better person inside. Helping others who need it is an amazing thing, and if you can manage to change even one life for the better; you’ve done something incredible.

So if you are thinking about working with a charity this year, just remember that there are tonnes of benefits for you, for your company and for everyone else involved. You will be able to build a better relationship with your team, reach out to more people throughout the world, and make a difference. And above all, you’ll be able to go to sleep at night knowing that you have done something positive in the world and helped someone who needed it the most and needed your help.
