Who your enemies are? Know how to identify them

on

The business world is like the jungle. There is a hierarchy, which means that by the law of the jungle, you’re surrounded by what are considered ‘enemies’.

You most likely have more enemies than you realize too. How can you tell? Have a look at your surroundings and see who fits into the following categories and find out who your enemies are:

The smiling assassin

[tweet_quote hashtags=”#enemies ” ]Possibly the most deadly of them all.[/tweet_quote] This person is the flattering professional who always complimenting you. But while they are distracting you with their compliments, they’re also busy scheming and planning your demise behind your back.

When you finally realise what they have done to you, it takes you a while to get over it. Why? Because they have “always been so nice to you and you can’t imagine them being so vindictive”.

So the next time someone “thinks you’re totes amazing, looking gorgeous, soooooo smart”… be warned and be careful.

The Gossip

Simply put, [tweet_quote hashtags=”#gossip” ]if they’re gossiping to you about somebody, they are gossiping about you to somebody else[/tweet_quote].

Don’t be impressed that they want to know so much about your life. This is purely currency for them to use in shopping elsewhere.

They are professional pumpers of information. If you find yourself caught in their trap, answer a question with a question.

Frenemy

The friend who is also your enemy. Most likely 50% or more of your ‘circle’ in business fits into this category. They share in your delight over a few drinks when you’re promoted only to bitch about it to someone else the following day.

They get close enough to become your ‘friend’ and learn all about your strategies for work or business and then steal them to take credit themselves.

They are brilliant at convincing you they care. They don’t. They only care about themselves and will do what it takes to keep the focus and the success for themselves.

Smooth criminal

This one can slip through the cracks if you don’t be careful. Often cashed up and sporting swag — good jewelry, a nice car, luxury item chat — they promise you the world only to leave you feeling hollow and violated.

They are the Kings and Queens of making promises they NEVER keep. They talk themselves up so much you start to feel unworthy in their company.

This is purely a con man/woman. End of story. Run.

The WYSIWYG enemy

[tweet_quote hashtags=”#enemies” ]The best kind of enemy to have.[/tweet_quote] They don’t like you, they tell you in as many ways as possible they don’t like you. You know they don’t like you. Therefore you can comfortably do business with them because you both know where you stand. No need for games or complicated strategic manoeuvres.
