Women and First Nations dominate Telstra awards

Companies founded by women and Indigenous Australians — and in one case, both — dominated the recent 2024 Telstra Business Awards, taking six of the seven awards.

  • Accelerating Women award: mumamoo (SA) 

mumamoo is a female owned infant formula company that is 100% Australian made, owned and manufactured. The business has expanded from an exclusively South Australian customer base to being sold nationally in more than 800 stores.

  • Building Communities award: Evolve Communities (NSW)

Led by Co-Directors Carla Rogers and Aunty Munya Andrews (pictured above from left to right), Evolve Communities is a trusted provider of cultural awareness training and allyship accreditation. Whether in person or online, Evolve Communities core programs are facilitated by an Indigenous and non-Indigenous team, modelling allyship.

  • Championing Health award: Earworx (TAS)

Earworx is a dedicated ear cleaning clinic with locations across Australia. Earworx specialises in removing impacted ear wax using dry and effective microsuction technology under direct observation, helping to alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms of excess ear wax.

Earworx was established in 2016 by Registered Nurse Lisa Hellwege, to provide her clients with a safe and effective professional micro-suction earwax removal service. This is the same gentle, effective and dry technique used by ENT specialists across Australia.

  • Embracing Innovation award: Transmutation (SA)

Owned by Narelle and Brad Scott, Transmutation is a craft sized recycling and manufacturing business that makes and sells circular economy products, proving to its customers that waste can be great. The business sells everything from bags, belts, clothing and jewellery, homewares, and more.

  • Indigenous Excellence award: Eather Group (NSW)

Eather Group is an Indigenous-led business offering sustainable solutions to traditional issues in the civil, construction and waste-to-resource industries. Its vision is to create a circular economy in the infrastructure sector, sourcing, transporting and re-purposing material for projects, to care for our country while developing workforce equity and diversity.

  • Promoting Sustainability award: Lyka Pet Food (NSW)

Anna Podolsky is the founder of the mega successful pet wellness start-up Lyka Pet Food, which is flipping the pet food industry on its head, delivering fresh, human-grade wholefood meals straight to customers around Australia, with a mission to transform the health of Aussie dogs
