Career Woman

You can have it all if you don’t do it all

on

Ambitious women have to deal with so many barriers on their way to success and one is always being told

“you can’t have it all”…when in fact you CAN.

[tweet_quote hashtags=”#havingitall” ]Having it all means different things for different women[/tweet_quote] — although often it means being a wife, mother, fitness fan, good friend and business/career woman all at the same time.

Many women will tell you this is impossible, but it isn’t. It is time for women to be more strategic in a wholistic manner and outsource/delegate more so they can have it all. Now, not everybody will be able to afford all the help solutions below all at once, but if you pick a strategic one that offers you the best ROI in allowing you to get on with career and money-making business, you can build the support strategies as you go.

1. Housekeeper

Stop feeling guilty because you hate cleaning or don’t have the time to do it. Hire someone! This will save you hours each week you can spend one on one with family. This is a very affordable solution if you shop around, and you are also giving somebody else — often some other woman — much-needed work.

2. Nanny/Childcare

If you need assistance with getting your children sorted then get it. For example, having a night nanny to do the night time feeds to ensure you get your required sleep. If you have a spare room, consider having an overseas student or visitor live in as an au pair — they will often do that in exchange for room and board.

3. Personal assistant

[tweet_quote hashtags=”#delegate” ]You know all that fiddly stuff that takes forever?[/tweet_quote] That’s where a brilliant virtual or personal assistant can help. Pick up dry cleaning, arrange your personal appointments and your paper work. With the sharing economy booming, it is becoming easy and affordable to find suitable people on a casual or periodic basis.

4. Gardener

If you have a yard, doing the lawns and garden can take a whole day sometimes. Get someone else to do it and spend that time with family, friends or on you. Or your business.

5. Pre-cooked meals

Imagine all the time you will save if your meals were all sorted during the week? Then you can enjoy cooking when you choose to and not because you have to. Hey, get a housekeeper that can cook or even get regular delivery of pre-made meals.

6. Workout with friends

This is something I do often. To catch up with my friends I workout with them. Either walking or training. It’s a great way to kill two birds with one stone. It’s also a great way to spend time with your partner and or family.

7. Cut back on TV

Stop wasting your time watching TV and especially live TV. Ads are a waste of time, just like sitting in front of the TV or computer for the sake of it and without a purpose. Turn it off and enjoy a pre-made meal in your newly cleaned house with your family. Record the programs you REALLY want to watch, so you are watching programs and not just ‘watching TV’.

8. Say no

You don’t have to go to every single canteen duty or be heading up the local community group (because you’re the business woman of the team). Pick and choose what you do and make sure it has impact. For example, if you volunteer at your child’s school make sure you are visible to your child whilst doing it. Like attending excursions etc. it doesn’t mean anything if you’re not there doing it ‘with’ or at least around your children.
