Our Power Pack series asks business women about their path to success. A food blog turned into a full-blown online business for Adele McConnell, whose site Vegiehead.com has sparked a health-focused community and resulted in several e-books, courses and programs.
My zero-judgement policy. I truly believe it’s helped cultivate a community of like-minded individuals who want to improve their health and be inspired. It was me being my most authentic self- accepting everyone for who they were, no matter what was on their plate. By doing that, I get traffic to my website in the millions, and have an enlightened, supportive social media following.
How to stand out from the crowd was probably my biggest challenge. There’s a sea of food bloggers out there; so I really needed to be loud, original and give heaps of value.
Seeing my recipes being made all over the world. Having a book published (number two is on the way!). Being able to quit my day job and focus full time on my own business — and by the end of the year, to employ my husband full time. VERY rewarding!
– Find your authentic voice; don’t follow the crowd. By being yourself, you give others permission to do the same.
– Invest in yourself with training and education and invest in your business or website.
– Say yes to every opportunity for the first few years of business. It will open up many, many doors for you.
