Turn your website into an employee during holidays

on

Aren’t holidays great? Well, perhaps except for managers and employers who want their businesses to keep running smoothly while their staff head out the door to party.

Now, we’re not suggesting that you play Scrooge and threaten, cajole or even chain staff to their desks during public holidays. After all, this is the 21st century, not the 19th. What we are suggesting is that you might want to think about how you can make your existing assets do more work and how they might continue to work for you in the future once the turkey’s all been eaten and everyone’s back at work.

Your current website is lazy

Well, it’s probably lazy. The majority of websites are still doing the same thing they did back at the birth of the internet. That is they’re acting as a business card or possibly a catalogue for your actual business.

This made sense back in the 1990s when computers were expensive, and nobody had thought about how they could do the heavy lifting but today… it’s a wasted opportunity for you and for your business.

Automation means your website can join the workforce

There are so many ways to get your website to do work and they all come through the process of automation.

Let’s take a look at some examples:

Customer care on autopilot

You can install a chatbot on your site. Not one of those old-fashioned Instant Messenger style things which send the query to someone gently snoring away the Boxing Day hangover but actual bots. That is a bot that answers customer’s queries.

Not a Robbie the Robot style thing but a piece of software you install on your site. You do need to teach it a little, but it learns as it goes, so the longer you have it on staff, the better it gets. Which is the opposite of many human employees, who often get more sullen and resentful as they plan their next vacation on your time.

Yup, before you know it your bot is handling all but the most complex of customer queries. This is good for your actual customer care people – they can spend their lives dealing with real challenges and spend less time on the routine. They may even stop planning their vacations on your time.

Sales and marketing the scales while you sleep

While customer care on autopilot is nice. What your really want is a sales and marketing team that can keep working while the sales department is unwrapping their presents and the marketing department is out schmoozing the biggest customers in your line of work.

Automated sales and marketing applications and bots introduced to your website can massively enhance your existing processes. They can help create leads out of nowhere by examining where your marketing efforts are most effective and doubling down on them – automatically.

They can increase your conversions by making sure that offers, quotes, etc. get to the right people at the right time and they can alert sales people when a human intervention is necessary and ensure those salespeople have the data they need, to hand, in order to close that business.

Then they can retarget existing customers and prospects with other offers and upsell and extend customer value. All of this without any input from you at all.

So, give your business and staff a present for the holidays

Automation is the future of the web. The businesses that get in first are those that will reap the greatest rewards. Not only will you be able to relax over the holidays but these tools will keep working for you long into the business year.
