Employee perks to increase job satisfaction and engagement

If you are a business owner, you should have a good idea already of how important it is to take care of your employees. Your employees are just as important as your customers, if not more important. Seriously! When you fail to keep up job satisfaction and employee engagement, you should find that you struggle to retain your employees, and end up spending more time, money, and resources in the long run. Here are some ideas of employee perks to help increase job satisfaction and engagement:

Performance bonuses

Giving performance bonuses to your employees will mean a lot to them, as they’ll feel like their hard work and overtime has been noticed and rewarded appropriately. You can do this as often as you feel; some employers do it twice a year, some once a year. Regular bonuses could be an incentive to work more effectively.

Flexi-time is offering your employees the opportunity to work from home occasionally, if they need to. This can be easier for them for so many reasons; they may need to go to the dentist, or a school play. Sometimes, you may even offer the option for them to start earlier and leave earlier, or start later and leave later.

Office perks

Having office perks will help to keep your employees content at work. Free tea/coffee should be compulsory. Many people can’t start their day without a cup of coffee! Have a box of treats delivered once a week and see how that perks the office up! Treating your employees to lunch occasionally could be an idea too. Make sure the office is clean and bright; don’t make it a boring office. Consider including a games or relaxation room to further enhance employee satisfaction. Sometimes, they may need to get away from their screens to think.

Employee development plans

Having employee development plans in place shows that you truly care about your employees. No employee wants to feel like they’re stuck in a dead end job. By helping them to develop professionally and personally, they’ll remain challenged and content in their role.

Company cars/mobiles

Some businesses find it appropriate to give their employees things like company cars and smartphones. Not only is this a great perk, it can help them to complete their job roles more effectively. If you don’t want to offer something so extravagant, there are other things you can consider. A novated lease is a popular option. If you’re thinking, ‘what is a novated lease?’ – it’s pretty simple. You make it easier for your employee to run their vehicle by creating an agreement with them that you take the costs out of their paycheck before tax.

Acknowledgement from you

Something as simple as acknowledgement from you can be a brilliant way to increase job satisfaction and engagement. Conversing with employees and taking an interest will make them feel appreciated.

Gym memberships

Gym memberships have so many advantages. They are an extra bonus for staff members, and they can help to strengthen immune systems and boost endorphins. This means happier, healthier employees in the long run.

There are many other options too, such as childcare assistance and health insurance. Think things over carefully!
