Self care for the self employed

on

When you work for yourself, there’s always the danger that work takes precedence over caring for yourself.  But your own wellbeing is a crucial part of your work! It’s not about a bath, that much is for sure. Self-care does, however, come in many forms, it might be your doing your accounts ahead of deadline, or it might be an extra hour in bed. Either way, here are some great self-care tips to get your mind, body, and soul feeling great.

Gratitude

When things are tough at work, or you have a client that is sucking the soul from your body, it can be hard to really enjoy life. However, if you practice being grateful, you can put yourself in a more positive mindset. Think of five things every day that you are happy and grateful for. They can be as obscure as you like, but just try to think about how good you felt about it.

Move more

If you are working from home, then chances are you aren’t working out or moving as much as you should. Try to make it your mission to move your body for at least 30 minutes a day. And extra on the weekends.

If you are the type of person who likes to rise to a challenge, then set yourself goals like a certain amount of weight or a specific distance. And remember that just like everything else, you can test out different enhancements from trimming back your sugar intake to introducing Ligandrol LGD-4033 Solution.

5 Minutes

If you are all-go all day, then taking five minutes to have complete silence each day is going to feel amazing. Call it your decompression time. Set a timer on your phone, and try to have it at the same time every day.

If you have children running around, that might make it harder, but it is a nice idea to have them involved in having those five minutes too. One of the cheapest and most effective methods to bring you back to yourself.

Sleep

No matter how much you have to do, you need to sleep to be able to work at your most effective. Most people aren’t even getting half of the amount that they truly need, and contrary to popular belief, you cannot sleep more to make up for a deficit. Most people need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep a night.

One or two nights will less won’t hurt, but after that, you are in the danger zone. If you have trouble nodding off, then try an app like Calm. The sleep stories are designed the help you drift off peacefully.

Slow down

Much of the stress is due to feeling rushed and busy all the time. Create space for yourself in the morning to wake-up and get ready slowly and peacefully. Having time to make a nice warm drink, have some breakfast, and read something.

No, not everyone enjoys mornings, but that is usually because they are rushed and messy. Start getting up earlier, in little increments until you are waking up at a time that you want.

Self-care is about finding that makes you happy, calm, and as low stress as possible.
