From business to romance, trust is a foundational principal in any healthy relationship. However, it is one of the most compromised traits that anyone in business can overlook; especially when the opportunity appears to be exciting. Although we are all in need of our next big break, there are some things that we must patiently analyze before agreeing to any new partnership. In order for us to be successful, we have to be in the right place, at the right time with the right individuals. When we are desperate for these opportunities to exist, it is often challenging to determine the real from the fake. Regardless of the relationship, trust is critical to the success of any relationship.
Below are three reasons one may want to consider before going into your next partnership:
1. Inconsistency
A person who is consistent displays reliability; which in returns converts into forms of trust. If the person you are in a partnership is consistently being flaky, and displaying signs of inconsistency, it is a warning that he/she cannot be trusted. Those who are often inconsistent with their professionalism also display signs of being overwhelmed while underperforming.
When going into business with anyone, you should be able to entrust that this particular individual will have your back no matter what. You should be able feel comfortable with allowing this individual to conduct business on your behalf, in your absence. If you do not have that much trust in their capabilities, then he or she is definitely not trustworthy.
2. Awkward communication practices
Does your partner take a long time to respond to your emails or telephone calls? Does he or she conduct business without your consent? Does he or she conveniently omit you from important conference calls? Business meetings? Are they being very cryptic about their intentions or business plans? If so, you definitely have an untrustworthy person on your hands. If you have been conveniently omitted, there is a reason why and you need to be on guard.
3. Omits important information
As a business partner, it is vital that there is an open line of communication at all times between the individuals in the partnership. If your partner is omitting information that can either make or break the end-results of your partnership, then this is a huge red flag that this particular person may not be in business with you for the right reasons.
