3 tips to build a great website – and 3 reasons you need one

on

In this post, we’ll talk about one of the fundamentals of business: a website. We’re here to provide you lovely readers with some great advice. By the time you’ve finished reading, you’ll know some of the key considerations when creating a business website. And, as a lucky bonus, I’ll tell you why you need to create one too.

1. Focus on the design

The design is everything when you’re creating your site. It’s not something you can afford to approach with anything other than your full attention. Think about it for a second, what makes a website good or not? What things will leave you feeling satisfied or grind your gears? It all revolves around the design; how the site looks and performs. If your site doesn’t compete with industry standards, then you’ll be disregarded, fast.

The concept of good web design is super easy to understand. All you have to think about are looks and performance. Does your website look good? If it does, then you won’t scare any customers away. Does your website perform well? Again, if it goes, then you’ll keep people on your page.

2. Use wordpress

If you know a thing or two about web design, then you’ll be aware there are various ways to set up a site. The internet is full of quirky tools and things you can use to help you on your way. But, I’m going to save you the bother of looking for the best one. Instead, you should just use WordPress. Is this the best most amazing web design platform out there? Probably not. However, it’s the most convenient and cost effective. You can create an amazing website using WordPress, and it won’t damage your bank balance.

It’s easy to use, and almost everyone can get started without any help. But, if you want to get the most out of your site, you may want to look for advice. There are plenty of companies like SixtyMarketing that offer WordPress website design assistance. Get some experts on board and it will still end up costing you less than some high-end web design services.

3. Secure a domain name

If you know nothing about websites, then a domain name won’t mean anything to you. But, it’s one of the most important parts of your site. The domain name is almost like the address of your website. If you look at the search bar above this page, you’ll see my website’s domain name right there. For a business, it’s essential that you secure and register a good domain name. In an ideal world, it will be the name of your company. For example, if your business is named ‘My Business’ then you want your domain to be www.MyBusiness followed by .com/org, etc. Obviously, this is just an example; I highly recommend you don’t use that as a business name, as it’s awful!

The reason your domain name is important is that it helps people identify with you. Plus, it looks way more professional if you have a domain name that makes sense. Otherwise, people will find it a bit odd if your company name isn’t your web address.

These three things are the main considerations for anyone wanting to create a business website. Once your site is up and running, you have to drive traffic to it. Otherwise, it’s pretty pointless. I won’t go into detail how you can generate web traffic; there are plenty of examples elsewhere.

Instead, I’ll answer a question a lot of you a probably asking. Why do you need a business website? Some people think it’s a waste of time, and their business has no need for a site. Well, here are some arguments to prove that you need one:

1. Your rivals have one

Creating a business website is the modern thing to do. Every business you can think of has a website of sorts. It may not be the best site on the internet, but they still have one. So, this means that all of your closest rivals have something you don’t. Anyone with a business brain will tell you this is a bad situation to be in. You should try and have things your rivals don’t have, not the other way around!

Not having a website will set you back, and push the competition ahead of you. It’s not a good idea to let this happen.

2. The internet is the future

No matter how you look at it, the internet is the future of business. In fact, there are arguments to suggest that the future is happening right now! What I mean by this is that soon, every business will be online. It will be the primary way people purchase goods and items. So, if you don’t have a website, then you aren’t preparing for the future.

What does that mean? It means that you’re wasting time, and won’t be ready when the change happens. Sooner or later, you’ll have to create a website because everything will be online. So, it makes sense to do it now and prepare yourself for the future of business.

3. Get more customers

The simplest reason for having a website is that they can generate more customers. I spoke about driving traffic to your site very briefly. Well, the more people that visit your site, the better. It means you have loads of consumers looking at your stuff and learning about your business. Think of it as the equivalent to having lots of people visit your store. There’s a much bigger chance of making a sale when people are inside shopping. It’s the same with your website, if people are there, you have a better chance of getting customers.

So, a simple website can help you get more customers, and make more sales for your business. As a result, you can make more money, and your company will be healthier.

Now, you can see why a website is so important for your business! Apply the advice we gave you in the first part of the article, and you’ll have a great site in no time.
