Are you a small time business owner looking to brand your company, but don’t know how? Advertising the company on various social media sites is a must nowadays, since there is literary no limit regarding how many followers a brand can get. Continue reading to find out more information on how you can brand your firm. With that being said here are 5 branding tips for small time business owners.

Find a mentor who is successful

A great method to achieve anything in business is by looking at what others have done and follow in their footsteps. Hire a mentor if possible, since they can give an insight on what should be done to brand the business. In addition, ask as many questions as possible, absorb all the knowledge they have and use it in your business. A big misconception is you must meet your mentor face to face, although that may be better it is not required. Simply talking through social media sites is enough to learn some key branding insights. You will be gaining the same knowledge whether it’s face to face or online.

Find a social media site that works

There is no denying that social media is important when it comes to branding, but is it really a must? Yes, social media has the potential to contact anyone in the world, which means limitless traffic. However, most business owners overlook this step and don’t take it seriously, leading to failure on the social media side of branding.

Figure out which social media platform best suits your brand, because being active on all the popular sites is going to take a lot of work. On the other hand, hiring a virtual assistant is an option, once you have established what content is going to be uploaded all you need to do is point the VA in the right direction. Also, almost all big brands use copywriters to create their content such as assignment writing.

Create a home on the internet

Create a home on the internet or in other words a website. Although you may have many followers on social media sites adding a website for interested fans is a must, because they are more than likely going to purchase a product. When a customer Google’s your brand and nothing comes up it looks dodgy, which can make it harder to appeal to the client. If possible create a website and make sure the URL is exactly your brands name, otherwise it will look unprofessional.

In addition, don’t rush the creation of the website, use photos of yourself and add a bio so customers know more about you. Also, linking to any blogs you may have written this is a great way to create on-page SEO.

Give away free content

Giving away free content or products to fans can bring a lot of exposure to a brand, which almost all brands do. For example, Coca Cola had a prize event where you can win an extra 500ml if you found a picture of a bottle inside the bottle cap, this made customers buy more and more cans, since they knew if they won they would get something for free. Giving out free content is the main part here, whether your brand is online or not. If the brand is mainly on the internet then consider creating videos and articles, which would help customers with their problems.

Stick to one design

All the successful brands stick to this rule and that is have one design. Yes, when the business grows you can change the logo design a bit, but not to the point where it’s unrecognizable. That’s because when a customer sees a certain logo or set of colours they immediately know what brand it is, which is what you want to achieve with your business.

Furthermore, make sure that the design you go for is unique and has no resemblance to other firms, since you want them to think of your brand and not another’s. Also, hire a designer to create many logos for you and pick out which one suits the brand best.

Make sure you get that brand design out there across everything — from your website design to electronic invoicing, and all promotional items, from clothing to even small items, like printing the logo of your company on die-cut stickers and spreading them among customers. Make sure the stickers are attractive or witty, and you never know where they will end up!

Creating a popular brand from scratch is no easy task, but with hard work and dedication it is possible. Use the information in the list to achieve your goals of owning a popular brand. Also, focus on giving away free content, since that is what gets a lot of buzz on the internet. Furthermore, once they get a taste of your content they are going to want more.
