As a business owner and a leader, how do you know if you are on the right path? How can you tell if it’s working? How do you know if your business is successful?

Running a business can be perplexing and arduous. Many business owners are just successful enough not to go out of business. The path forward is often unclear. If you want a shot at thriving and not just only surviving, especially in the fast-moving environment, you must be dynamically curious, and willing to be inquisitive and live in the question.

Living in the question can mean the difference between success and failure.

One of the most important things you can do to begin creating a thriving business and to change your financial world, is to live in the question. Questions foster curiosity and cultivates an open mind.  Living in the question drives creativity and innovation and leads you to new and different possibilities.

Questions have a catalytic quality—that is, they dissolve barriers to creative thinking and channel the pursuit of solutions into new, accelerated pathways.  Often, the moment they are voiced, they have the paradoxical effect of being utterly surprising yet instantly obvious.

Here are the four questions you could use to drive true business success.

1. What are my priorities?

To create a thriving business, you must know your priorities. It sounds simple but even some established business owners who think they “know” their vision and how to set strategy can be totally baffled with this simple question.

Ask yourself – “What do you want to create as your business? What do you want to create as your life?”

Priorities are required if you wish to create a thriving business. When you have a priority, you will choose differently instead of tolerating struggles and bumping into problems. A priority allows you choice and possibility.

A priority is the choice you would make before you make another choice. Priority is a source for creation. If you don’t have action-oriented priorities, you can’t take action to actualize the possibilities.

Most business do not fail because they don’t have good products or services. They don’t fail because the owners didn’t work hard; they fail because the owners didn’t know what to do to operate a generative and sustainable businesses. They failed because the owners did not really know their priorities.

2. What’s possible here?

Leading your business with questions can open up to possibilities of new ways of doing, working and functioning. Innovation occurs when you are willing to be in the question and to ask questions always.

You’re always going to have to incorporate awareness to create something greater. Awareness is the only thing that will grow your business. Questions lead you to awareness you never thought to consider until you asked the question. With increased awareness, different possibilities become available to you.

Ask – “What possibility is available now that’s never been available before?”When you ask this question, you start opening the door to creating from a different place and a different possibility begins to occur. You will be more aware of what is valuable to others that they will always pay money for.

If you function from “What else is possible?” you are in a state of expansiveness of what can be and what could be.  Thisquestion can open up possibilities! Most of the time the real hurdle to success is not a lack of options, but a lack of ability to perceive the new and different possibilities that are available.

3. What choices do I have here?

The accomplishment of your business is directly related to your choices. The quality of your choices, in turn, are determined by the quality of your questions, for questions are the means, and the powerhouse behind your choices.

The question intercepts choice, so a different reality gets created. There are many aspects of business and life where this applies.

Ask, “What choices can I make today that will create a thriving business more than what I can imagine?” With this question you will generate an energy that will start the ball rolling for generating something greater than you could possibly imagine.

This question is about getting you to the place of choice. You want to get to the point where you are not creating anything from conclusion, projection, expectation and judgment, but you create everything from choice.With each choice, you can look at: “If I choose this, what will this create?”

Your choice creates awareness and opens up another possibility. So, when you choose to ask a question the awareness of what that question can open up for you will show up. Then you can make the choice from a place of more awareness.

4. What can I be, do, have, create, or generate to create this?

You have to do something every day to build the business.  The long-term success of your business requires that you are willing to be, do, have, create and generate something every day, and keep creating more. You have to institute what you are creating in your business, which means you have to maintain something every day, in order to generate and create something greater.

Ask- “What can I be or do different that will generate more business today and tomorrow and every day after that?” This questioncreates the platform off of which you generate and create something different.

With your business, you have to be willing to be aware of what it is going create for you, not what you think it is going to create for you. Instead of asking questions that try to create a result, you want to ask: What do I have to be or do today to expand this business right away?” or “What can I be or do different today to create more possibilities right away?”

If you are willing to be totally different, you can create totally different. The willingness to be different will always keep the door open for a greater possibility and success. Asking these questions with your business will help you to make the changes that will keep it vital and generative.
