Create a thriving business: Even if it means going against the grain

on

Innovation is one of the most important aspects of creating a successful business. So many brilliant entrepreneurs have created thriving businesses with ideas, concepts, and products that challenge the status quo, offer brand new possibilities to the world, and go against the grain.

Take a look around your own life and the products and companies that you use and love. Is it products and services that are similar to everything else, and fit the status quo? Or, are your favorite products fresh, creative, innovative – and things that make your life better, easier, and greater because the person who created them went out on a limb and dared to be different?

How about you?

As an entrepreneur, how do you create your business? What do you bring to the marketplace? Are you looking to create something that that is the same as everybody else? Or are you willing to stand out and be different?

What if you could disrupt the status quo, and in so doing, not only create a thriving and dynamic business, but contribute something new to the world, too?

How do you accomplish this?

Here are three things you can look at in your own business that will set you apart from the rest of the world:

  1. Be you!

Everybody else is already taken! You have a unique blend of experience, education, history, and knowledge that make up a very different thing in the world called you! Are you willing to be unique and different from everybody else?

What if being like others, or trying to get it right in business, is a diminishment of you and what you can create with your business? When you show up as you, and you trust yourself — and you are willing to create your business from that place — you will have ideas, possibilities, innovations, and new creations pop into your head all the time that you can turn into a greater and more successful business.

  1. Be willing to be judged.

True innovators usually also disrupt their industry with the new things they bring to the market. Many people do not like the status quo to be challenged. A great example of this is Uber. Taxicab drivers, companies, and unions were very upset when Uber came on the scene and attempted repeatedly in various parts of the world to stop Uber from succeeding. They liked things just the way they were before Uber.  But the users of Uber clearly had a different response and Uber has become an extraordinarily successful company.

People use judgment to try to control others. If you are a true innovator in your field, and you begin to really succeed, you will receive a barrage of judgment from other people as well as your competition. Don’t let that stop you!

In fact, an increase in judgment is usually an indication that you’re doing something right! What if, rather than turning your self down in the face of judgment, you could turn yourself, and your business, and your success, up?

  1. Have fun!

When you enjoy what you do, and you have fun with it, even more creativity, ideas, possibilities, and innovative ways of doing business will come your way. Money, and success, follow joy – not the opposite. Do some thing every day that is truly fun for you, even if it has nothing to do with your business. And see what you can change about your business that would allow it to be more fun for you and your employees. When we are enjoying ourselves, everything is easier, everything flows, and we succeed even more.

Some of the most successful business people in our world today are those that are constantly willing to go against the grain to create something greater with their business and in the world. How much fun can you have creating a very different?  Ready to push the envelope of standard business practices, products and services even more than you already do?

How much fun can you have shaking up today’s marketplace, being an innovator, and succeeding dynamically all the way through?
