Nine possible reasons your website visitors leave quickly

2.   Lack of information

The first thing your website visitors will ask when landing on one of your pages is “what is in it for me”. If they don’t get the answer in the first few seconds by scrolling through the page, they will not risk staying any longer, and click on the next result in their search bar. You will have to state who you are, what you offer, and why your visitors would like to find out more, or they will not be engaged and try to find another site that talks directly to them and answers their question.

3.   Bad navigation

If it is impossible to find anything on your site, and you don’t have a search bar, you are likely to lose visitors. 6.   Lack of content 

While a few years ago it was possible to rank on the first page of Google with a one-page website, you cannot do it now. The more interaction and fresh content there is on your site the higher you will rank and the longer your visitors will stay. Content is still king, but you should focus more on what customers want to read about than keywords.

7.   No call to action

You cannot expect people to contact you with queries if they don’t know how to get in touch. Every good professional landing page has a strong call to action that tells potential customers what they need to do to order, take advantage of the discount, or get free delivery. You need to put it out there in a straightforward format. Your call to action needs to be relevant to your market, and emphasize the benefits of ordering from you.

8.   Text only

Text only sites don’t do well anymore. You will need to combine different types of content to engage with people from all walks of life. The attention span of today’s 20-somethings is just a few seconds, and this means they might not want to read a 2000-word analysis, and would prefer an infographic presentation along with the report. Some people like reading, while others want explaining videos.

9.   Standard template

You cannot stand out with a standard template. If your visitors check out your site and find that it looks like any other page they have visited, they will not be interested enough to stay. Always customize your site, and make sure that you allow your brand image shine through your graphic design.
