So you’re planning a corporate move. It’s a big and exciting step to relocate your business and employees. A new office, a new atmosphere, maybe some new people — and unfortunately, a ton of paperwork and planning. No doubt you’ve got a ton of questions and are probably under a bit of stress. Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to help relieve the stress of your move.
Establish a plan
First things first, you’ll want to create a detailed moving plan. This will include all the requirements for each department, important dates (like moving days, lease start/end etc.), and a budget. Getting all of these things in order will make it much easier once you begin coordinating with your commercial movers. Keep in mind that the timeline for a commercial move shouldn’t be something you set up last minute. Planning should begin at least 6 months prior to your lease expiration. Make sure you come up with a detailed moving checklist so that all aspects of the move are covered.
Storage
One thing not many movers think about is storage. And for a corporate relocation, that’s a very important part of the move. Consider all the items that you won’t need until everyone and everything is settled in the new place. Things like documents, sparsely used office equipment, and seasonal products typically will be put into storage.
Sell or donate unnecessary equipment
Often, offices have a ton of redundant and unnecessary equipment laying around. A move is a great opportunity to purge your workspace of any unneeded stuff. Donating or recycling outdated IT equipment, computers, and printers, among other things, is usually more cost effective than paying a mover to haul it to your new place.
Organization is everything
Moving can be chaotic. And in the midst of everything, it’s easy to lose track of paperwork, supplies, time, and budget. Staying organized will help you stick to your budget and maintain your timeline. Ensure that your staff know their roles during the move. Keep track of the move’s progress and don’t be afraid to label everything in sight. It’ll save you time and a headache later.
Corporate moving
Organizing a move can be an overwhelming process. But it doesn’t have to be. Hiring a reliable moving company will make the process infinitely smoother so don’t hesitate with your corporate move.
